Pink-Pink shows a strong fluorescent pink in daylight and, once charged, also glows pink in the dark – two effects from one pigment. It suits resin art, home decoration, nail polish, jewellery and candles.

Properties

  • Material: strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium, with a protective coating – making it water-resistant
  • Colour: strong pink by day, pink in the dark
  • Afterglow duration: up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; most intense in the first few minutes
  • Particle size: approx. 20–30 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre)
  • Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sun (a few minutes)
  • Heat: tinted pigment – do not process above approx. 150 °C
  • Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet

How to use the glow powder

The pigment does not dissolve; it is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, glue, wallpaper paste, wax or silicone. As a starting point we recommend approx. 20% pigment relative to the carrier; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint, rather 30–50%. Test the mixture on a small sample first.

  • The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
  • In thin resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken briefly, then stir it in.
  • You can also sprinkle the powder onto sticky surfaces such as glue, wax or wallpaper paste, or apply it in clear varnish with an airbrush.
  • For outdoor use, use weather-resistant clear varnishes or epoxy.

What's included

40 g glow powder Pink-Pink in a resealable poly bag.

Good to know

For technical reasons, tinted shades glow more weakly and for a shorter time than green or blue-green with a whitish daylight colour. In return, the powder shows a strong colour during the day too. Afterglow is an aid for orientation and effects, not a light source: it becomes visible in real darkness and barely under a street lamp. Colours look different in photos depending on the camera and the charge. The raw pigment is not a toy. Avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes when processing larger quantities.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Pink-Pink glow compared with other colours?
Pink-Pink glows for up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness. The pigments with a whitish daylight colour and green or blue afterglow glow longest and most intensely – for up to 12 hours. The glow is most intense in the first few minutes; after 1–2 hours it turns into a faint glimmer.
How much glow powder do I need?
As a starting point, approx. 20% relative to the carrier – so about 20 g for 100 ml of varnish. In opaque carriers such as white wall paint, 30–50%. 40 g is therefore enough for around 200 ml of clear carrier. Test the mixture on a small sample first.
Does the powder also glow under black light?
Yes. The pigments also fluoresce under UV or black light. The lighter and more vivid the daylight colour, the more vivid the fluorescence. You only see the afterglow, however, when the light is off.
Can I mix different glow powders?
Yes, but not like liquid paint following colour theory: the particles remain individually visible and no new mixed shade is created. Mixing a weak shade with some green or blue-green extends the afterglow; on close inspection, the stronger particles then stand out.
