Green-Green combines two effects: a bold green daylight colour that stands out even in bright conditions, and a green afterglow in the dark. However, the tinting reduces the glow. If a long afterglow matters more to you than the daylight colour, choose the green glow powder with a whitish daylight colour.

Properties

  • Material: strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium, with a protective coating – making it water-resistant
  • Afterglow duration: up to 4 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; strongest in the first few minutes
  • Colour: bold green by day, green in the dark
  • Particle size: approx. 20–30 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre) – finely ground, so also suitable for airbrush and pressure-operated spray systems
  • Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sunlight (a few minutes)
  • Temperature: tinted pigment – do not use above approx. 150 °C
  • Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet

How to use the glow powder

The pigment does not dissolve; instead, it is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, glue, paste, wax or silicone. As a starting value we recommend approx. 20% pigment, relative to the carrier material; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint, rather 30–50%. Test the mixture on a small sample first.

  • The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
  • In thin resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken briefly, then stir it in.
  • Alternatively, sprinkle it onto adhesive or absorbent surfaces, or apply it in transparent varnish with an airbrush.
  • Outdoors, use weatherproof clear varnishes or epoxy; indoors, solvent-free carriers such as clear varnish or paste are suitable.

What's included

40 g glow powder Green-Green in a poly bag.

Good to know

Afterglow is an orientation and effect aid, not lighting: it becomes visible in real darkness. The raw pigment is not a toy. When processing larger quantities, avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Green-Green and Green?
Green glow powder is whitish by day and glows most brightly and for the longest time – up to 12 hours. Green-Green is tinted a bold green by day. The tinting absorbs light, so it glows for a shorter time: up to 4 hours after a full charge in complete darkness.
Can I use Green-Green with an airbrush?
Yes. At approx. 20–30 µm, the powder is finely ground and can be applied in transparent varnish with an airbrush or pressure-operated spray systems. Several thin coats give the strongest glow.
Can I process Green-Green under heat?
Only to a limited extent. Tinted pigments should not be used above approx. 150 °C, as the daylight colour may decompose.
How much glow powder do I need?
As a starting value, approx. 20% relative to the carrier material – so about 20 g for 100 ml of varnish. In opaque carriers such as white wall paint, 30–50%. More pigment glows more brightly, but above about 30% in clear carriers it adds little. 40 g is therefore enough for around 200 ml of clear carrier.
What charges the powder and how long does it take?
Any light source. Guide values for a full charge: UV light from 365 nm 2–4 minutes, sunlight 6–9 minutes, fluorescent lamp 20–24 minutes, incandescent bulb about 25 minutes. After that it glows at its strongest and gradually weakens.
