This pigment shows a strong neon yellow in daylight and has a yellow-green afterglow in the dark. So the surface looks colourful by day and glows at night. Because the daylight colour is light, it glows for longer than the dark tinted shades.
Properties
- Material: strontium aluminate doped with europium and dysprosium, with a protective coating – which makes it water-resistant
- Colour: strong yellow (neon yellow) in daylight, yellow-green in the dark
- Afterglow duration: up to 4 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; at its strongest in the first few minutes
- Particle size: approx. 20–30 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre) – fine enough for brushes, varnish and casting resin
- Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sunlight (a few minutes)
- Heat: tinted pigment – do not process above approx. 150 °C
- Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet
How to use the glow powder
The pigment does not dissolve but is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, adhesive, wallpaper paste, wax or silicone. As a starting point we recommend approx. 20% pigment, relative to the carrier; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint rather 30–50%. Test the mix on a small sample first.
- The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
- In thin, runny resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken slightly, then stir it in.
- You can also scatter the powder onto tacky surfaces such as adhesive, wax or paste, or apply it in clear varnish with an airbrush.
- For outdoor use, choose weather-resistant clear varnishes or epoxy.

Good to know
For technical reasons, tinted shades glow for a shorter time than green with a whitish daylight colour. In return, the powder is a strong yellow even by day. Under black light, neon yellow looks particularly vivid. Afterglow is an aid for orientation and effect, not lighting: it becomes visible in real darkness, but hardly under a street lamp. Colours look different in photos depending on the camera and the charge. The raw pigment is not a toy. When working with larger quantities, avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes.
