Glow stones are broken pieces of stone that store light during the day and release it again in the dark – without electricity, cables or batteries. The yellow-tinted stones add an accent of colour by day and glow in the dark after charging. They can lie loose in a bed or pot, or be worked into concrete, resin and terrazzo.
Properties
- Shape: irregularly broken pieces of stone, each approx. 2 cm
- Material: based on strontium aluminate
- Afterglow duration: up to 4 hours after full charging in complete darkness; tinted, therefore weaker than green
- Charging: with daylight or artificial light, as often as you like; just a few seconds to minutes are enough, fastest with UV light
- Use: indoors and outdoors
- Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP
How to use the glow stones
- Loose as decoration: in garden gravel, flowerpots, planters, vases, rock beds or along paths.
- In resin: embed in epoxy or casting resin, for example for bowls, tabletops or decorative objects.
- Concrete, terrazzo, steps: press into the still-wet surface and sand flat after curing – mixed into the compound, the stones disappear. Alternatively, embed them in a transparent, walk-on layer.
- Outdoors: choose a spot that gets enough light during the day.
What's included
300 g glow stones yellow, piece size approx. 2 cm, in a poly bag.
Good to know
Afterglow is an aid for orientation and effects, not a light source: it becomes visible in real darkness, but barely under a streetlight. The stones are not a toy.
