The Natural Blue glow in the dark paint comes ready-mixed: stir, apply, charge with light – in the dark your design glows without electricity. Natural Blue is light and whitish in daylight and glows blue in the dark. Because the pigment is not tinted, it glows considerably longer than the bold blue variant.

Typical uses are star designs on walls and ceilings, pictures on canvas, painted stones and decorations, and markers on light switches and stair edges for orientation in the dark.

Properties

  • Colour: light and whitish in daylight, blue in the dark
  • Afterglow duration: up to 12 hours after a full charge, in complete darkness; strongest in the first few minutes
  • Ready to use: acrylic paint based on our strontium aluminate glow pigments, can be thinned with water
  • Surfaces: paper, cardboard, wallpaper, canvas, wood, rubber, stone and glass
  • Charging: with daylight or lamplight, as often as you like; fastest with UV light or sunlight
  • Origin: Made in Germany

How to apply the glow in the dark paint

  1. Stir the paint thoroughly, including at the bottom of the bottle – the glow pigments settle.
  2. Paint absorbent surfaces such as wallpaper, paper or wood directly. Prime smooth surfaces first; prime dark surfaces in a light colour, ideally white.
  3. Apply with a brush, sponge or roller. Paint larger areas with a soft roller in 2–3 coats; let each coat dry before the next.
  4. Several thin coats glow more strongly than one thick one. For a smoother surface, thin the paint slightly with water – thinning it more reduces the glow.
  5. Afterwards, clean brush and roller with water and close the bottle tightly.

Tip: The paint is not weatherproof. Outdoors and on furniture in everyday use, seal the dried layer with a solvent-based clear varnish. It also holds on fabric and leather; wash textiles at no more than 30 °C.

What's included

1 resealable bottle containing 100 g (approx. 90 ml) of glow in the dark paint Natural Blue.

Good to know

Afterglow is an orientation and effect aid, not lighting: it becomes visible in real darkness, but hardly under a street lamp. The ready-made paint is too pasty for casting resin and pouring – use our glow pigments for that. You will find the safety data sheet (lumentics glow paste, also valid for the glow in the dark paints) in the downloads on this page.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Natural Blue glow compared with other colours?
Natural Blue is not tinted and glows for up to 12 hours – after a full charge, in complete darkness. Compared with yellow-green and blue-green it is somewhat weaker, but considerably stronger than the bold blue tinted variant. In a thin layer the paint glows for a somewhat shorter time than the pure pigment.
How many coats do I need?
For an even glow, two to three thin coats, ideally with a soft roller on larger areas. Each additional coat strengthens the effect. A light or white-primed surface glows much more strongly than a dark one.
Can I use the paint outdoors?
Yes, with protection: the paint itself is not weatherproof. Cover the dried layer with a solvent-based clear varnish. Outdoors, the glow is only visible where it is really dark.
Can I use the glow in the dark paint in epoxy resin or for pouring?
The ready-made paint is not suitable for this, as it is too pasty. For resin and pouring medium, it is better to use our glow pigments, which you stir in directly.
Does the paint hold on fabric?
Yes, it holds on fabric and leather. A clear protective coat on top is advisable; wash textiles at no more than 30 °C. It is not a dedicated fabric paint.
