The glitter powder combines two effects: in daylight, fine transparent glitter particles sparkle in blue; in the dark, the added glow pigments glow greenish. It is suitable for decoration, resin art and anything that should also sparkle during the day.

Properties

  • Material: mixture of fine, transparent glitter and glow pigment based on strontium aluminate
  • Colour: sparkling blue by day, greenish in the dark
  • Particle size: approx. 75–120 µm (1 µm = one thousandth of a millimetre)
  • Afterglow duration: up to 2 hours after a full charge in complete darkness; slightly weaker due to the glitter
  • Charging: with any light source, fastest with UV light or sunlight (a few minutes)
  • Heat-resistant: up to 150 °C
  • Classification: not classified as hazardous under CLP – see safety data sheet

How to use the glitter powder

The pigment does not dissolve; it is stirred into a carrier: epoxy and casting resin, clear varnish, acrylic paint, glue, wallpaper paste, wax or silicone. As a starting point we recommend approx. 20% pigment relative to the carrier; in opaque carriers such as white wall paint, rather 30–50%. Test the mixture on a small sample first.

  • For the glitter effect, work the powder in close to the surface or sprinkle it onto the still tacky layer.
  • The more transparent and lighter the carrier, the stronger the glow. Prime dark surfaces in a light colour first.
  • In thin, runny resin the pigment sinks: let the resin thicken briefly, then stir it in.
  • You can also sprinkle the powder onto adhesive surfaces such as glue, wax or wallpaper paste, or apply it in clear varnish with an airbrush.
  • Outdoors, use weather-resistant clear varnishes or epoxy.

What's included

50 g glitter powder Blue-Green in a resealable bag.

Good to know

Because of the glitter content, the powder has a weaker afterglow than pure glow pigment, but it also sparkles during the day. Do not stir into water-based paints without a binder. Store dry and sealed. Afterglow is an aid for orientation and effects, not lighting: it is visible in real darkness, barely under a street lamp. Colours look different in photos depending on the camera and charge. The raw pigment is not a toy. When processing larger quantities, avoid dust and contact with skin and eyes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference from normal glow powder?
The glitter powder also contains transparent glitter particles. This makes it sparkle by day, but its afterglow is weaker than that of pure glow pigment. If the glow in the dark is what matters most to you, choose a pure glow powder in green or blue-green.
How much glitter powder do I need?
As a starting point, approx. 20% relative to the carrier; in opaque carriers, 30–50%. A higher proportion strengthens the afterglow. Test the mixture on a small sample first.
Can I use the glitter powder outdoors?
Yes, embedded in a weather-resistant carrier such as synthetic resin varnish or epoxy. Outdoors the afterglow is only visible where it is truly dark.
What charges the powder and how long does it take?
Any light source. Guide values for a full charge: UV light from 365 nm 2–4 minutes, sunlight 6–9 minutes, fluorescent lamp 20–24 minutes, incandescent bulb approx. 25 minutes. It then glows most intensely and then gradually fades.
